The United Yellow (UYP) Graphics Department is a PC-platform (Windows) operation and is fully capable of accepting and manipulating various file types, however, we do have certain specifications that we require. We design our ads in Adobe InDesign CS and use Photoshop CS to manipulate our artwork. Please supply artwork on a cd or a zip disk. For emailing artwork see below.

SUPPLYING ART VIA COMPUTER DISK-

Acceptable
We accept files created in Photoshop, Illustrator, Quark, InDesign, Acrobat, and Freehand. (These include file extensions such as .tif / .psd / .jpg / .eps / .qxd / .indd / .ai)

Not Acceptable
We do not accept Microsoft Office, Publisher, Web Pages, PageMaker, and CorelDraw. (These include file extensions such as .doc / .pub / .html / .pmx / .cdr)

Fonts
Must be converted to outlines, curves, or artwork in order to maintain the appearance of the fonts. Our fonts are limited to a small selection due to printing and postscript errors. (No True Type fonts)

Color Ads or Artwork Must Be CMYK Only
Resolution should be a minimum of 200dpi. Those that are taken directly from the web are only supplied at a low resolution of 72dpi and WILL appear fuzzy.

EMAILING ARTWORK

Files less than 1 megabyte can be emailed to:
art@unitedyp.com (We accept .zip files to compress or decrease file size)
The email must include Business Name, Phone, Designer's Name, and Designer's Phone in the body of the email. The subject line must include the business name and phone number.

SUPPLYING A HARDCOPY PHOTO OR ART/LOGO

If a customer possesses only a hardcopy photo or logo file:
Postal Mail a clean ad copy, (noting desired colors if ad copy is black & white), along with original photo(s) & clean copies of logo(s) for UYP to scan when rebuilding your ad. DO NOT WRITE OR SCRIBBLE ON ART WHICH IS TO BE SCANNED!

TIPS

Please send ads ready-to-go, and made to the proper dimensions. We assume what you send us is what you want to appear in print. Colors darken significantly on newsprint so adjust accordingly.
